The MP4 reencodes were done with Handbrake, mostly in an attempt to fix the disgusting interlacing present in the original video (remembering that it was taken back of 2007 or possibly earlier, using a potato).

I would say the reencode is 95% successful in achieving that goal. I tried H264 and H265 just for kicks, using both software and NVenc hardware encoding.
